Each month we’ll be taking the time to get under the skin of the Maitland Selwyn team members, to find out what makes them tick…and what ticks them off.
How and why did you join Maitland Selwyn?
I used Maitland Selwyn in my role as Area Sales Manager with my previous company, so when I found myself looking for a new position after being made redundant, it was a natural place to start. I found myself being offered a ‘maternity cover’ position as Account Manager for the West Midlands and fifteen years later the rest as they say is history.
Why have you stayed with the company so long?
Everyone is very passionate about what they do and we have a real ‘team spirit’. Because of the Management style of the ‘Boss’ as Managers we do not need to be driven, we all drive ourselves because we want to be successful not just for ourselves but for Chris Haley as well who is very supportive of everyone within the company.
What’s your favourite thing about working for Maitland Selwyn?
The ethos of the company which stems from Chris and sits perfectly with my passion and aspirations within my business life.
What has been your best investment?
Personally – my 5 series BMW
What has been your favourite role, before joining Maitland Selwyn/entering property recruitment?
I have worked most of my working life within the new homes industry and enjoyed every aspect of it whether that has been helping purchasers make a move to a property that suits their needs to developing sales consultants into a role that they love.
What is your favourite room in your house and why?
Probably the dining room which leads into a conservatory – this is where we catch up on the day and ‘put the world right’
If you could add one dream feature to your home, what would it be?
Room for more wardrobes!
What do you most dislike about your home?
Nothing really, it is a bungalow which we purchased about 10 years ago as a ‘run down’ deceased estate so we were able to rebuild and extend – it’s small but its home.
Have you any pets?
Not at the moment – we have always had cats and we lost the latest one about three years ago and the effect was so traumatic that we haven’t been able to bring ourselves to get another one yet, but I am sure we will in time to come.
What’s the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?
Pay off the mortgage for my daughter and siblings!
Finally, what 3 things would you take with you to a desert island?
iPod, Kindle and GHD’s
What is your favourite book and favourite song?
Favourite book Rebecca by Dauphne DuMaurier and favourite song I Will Survive!
