It’s an old saying, but a successful business is nothing without its people. Given its successes in 2016, you’d be forgiven for thinking that specialist new-homes recruiter Maitland Selwyn might owe this to rapid expansion and high staff turnover, something not unusual in the sector. However, a dedication to employee development and rewarding long service means the company’s growth has been a much more organic process, and on 16 November an awards dinner was held to celebrate those who have contributed so much over the years.

Hosted at the world-famous Belfry in Warwickshire, the evening welcomed 34 employees, 17 of which were honoured with awards for their service, ranging anywhere from five years upwards. The event highlighted just how powerful it can be to maintain a strong and loyal staff group, and none more important than Angela Price, who marked her retirement at the event following 37 fantastic years of service and dedication.

Also, Pat Webster celebrated 25 years of service having spent many years as a Sales Consultant on site and now using that experience as part of the training team as  Sales Trainer/Coach.

In attendance, 15-year honouree Anita Edmunds was in reflective mood:

“When I joined Maitland Selwyn as an Account Manager covering maternity leave all those years ago, I could see how much the company appreciated the business they received from the clients they worked with and how important each and every account was.

“Our ethos stems from Chris and the way he manages, he doesn’t need to drive us – we drive ourselves because we want to achieve what the business stands for and the respect we have for Chris and the brand name is second to none. We have a great team and everyone has a very important part to play – we don’t always get it right but we make sure we learn from our mistakes and put practices in place to ensure we get it right next time.”

A night filled with amusing anecdotes and fond memories for many was fuelled by a fantastic “Belfry Dinner”, to celebrate all in attendance and their contribution to many years of success; and none more so than 2016.

Maitland Selwyn managing director (and master of ceremonies for the evening) Chris Haley summed up the event, whilst looking to the future:

“We are very fortunate to have such a talented team with such commitment to both me and the company and with this team we will continue to grow our nine regions along with developing quality candidates for the industry”.
