Getting to know the team : twelve questions for Katie Charlesworth

We have been taking the time to get under the skin of the Maitland Selwyn team members to find out what makes them tick ….. and what ticks them off

How and why did you join Maitland Selwyn?

After taking semi-retirement from the new homes industry as Sales Director, I felt I still had a lot to contribute and I could put my 14 years of experience to good use by helping new people starting on their career journey, so I joined Maitland Selwyn on a part time basis as a Training Assessor/ Coach.

What’s your favourite thing about working for Maitland Selwyn?

For me, it’s the sense of family that stands out, from day one I was made very welcome. There is also a fantastic support system in place with the higher management being easily approachable, which has been extremely beneficial to me in my new role with the business as a Regional Manager.

What has been your best investment?

34 years of being happily married is the biggest investment I have ever made. During my career it has sometimes proved very difficult to maintain a healthy work / life balance but working for Maitland has now helped me achieve this.

What has been your favourite role, before joining Maitland Selwyn?

Sales Director at Harron Homes, being a part of their business growth plans, from setting up the department to quadrupling the sales figures, enabling them to expand the business with a second division.

What is your favourite room in your house and why?

The Orangery, I love to sit and read in there, it’s my calm space overlooking the garden.

What’s your signature dish in the kitchen?

Sunday Roast with all the trimmings, I especially enjoy cooking Christmas Dinner for the family.

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

I love worldwide travel with the Grand Bahia Principe Hotel in Jamaica being at the top of my list. We also have a holiday home on the East Coast.

What do you most dislike about your home?

We completely renovated it prior to moving in, so there’s nothing not to like.

Have you any pets?

No, But I would like a dog when I eventually retire, either a Labradoodle or a Cockapoo.

What’s the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?

Treat the entire family by making them financially stable, so they can start living their lives to the fullest and not have to worry about their finances.

What is your favourite book and favourite song?

Book: I don’t have a single favourite, I love anything to do with Zombies (weird I know), but I was brought up watching Hammer House of Horror and Dracula movies and it just stuck.

Song: Anything by Michael Jackson, but Thriller has to be the best, (can you guess why??!!)

Finally, what 3 things would you take with you to a desert island?

Husband, Netflix & Chocolate.
